REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS AT SAINIK SCHOOL KALIKIRI

The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour, zest, passion, and commitment at Sainik School Kalikiri on 26th Jan 2022 adhering to strict COVID safety and protocols the parade ground of the school was decked up with festoons and colourful rangoli patterns to mark the event. The Principal of the school, Capt (IN) Vikrant Kishore unfurled the tri-colour flag, and received the general salute from the smartly turned out cadets who enthralled the audience with their smart saluting and turning as part of the static drill – which was the cynosure of the event.

 

Addressing the staff, families and cadets, the Chief Guest elucidated the importance of the Republic Day, and recalled the great deeds done by the noble souls who braved all the initial odds and difficulties in liberating the nation from the yokes of the foreign bondage. “This is a day for all of us to celebrate and honor our nation and our sovereignty. This is a day to remember with gratitude the enormous efforts and sacrifices of millions of freedom fighters whose blood and sweat gave us Independence and created our Republic. Above all, this is a day to cherish our republican values. We celebrate the national festival of the Republic Day with enthusiasm and express our respect for the national flag, and our faith in the Constitution” he said, and asked the cadets to immensely contribute for the nation building by joining the armed forces and other elite services.

 

He further added that ten cadets of the first batch had qualified for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews, out of which three had recommended for National Defence Academy, Pune. ‘From second batch, ten cadets had already cleared the UPSC NDA/INA written exam, and are being trained to clear the SSB interviews. RTPCR tests and vaccination drives had been conducted for both the staff and cadets on the campus, and all types of preventive measures were being implemented to make the campus a safe place’, said the Principal. Later, Cdr Minakshi Sahay (Retd.), first lady of the campus presented the cadets token sweets. Having joined the school after an unprecedented gap of almost two years and this event happened to be first, the cadets took active participation in the event, and the drum beats; patriotic songs; cadets marching; and the horses’ parade filled the campus with an aura of patriotic feeling. Officers, staff, cadets, and families were present on the occasion. The event concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.
